Promotional Tote bag design for Hudd Uni Grad Show ”11. These were printed on black for some reason which was a little annoying and they didnt arrive in time, but Ill post some photos when I get one!
Hey guys! My site is up. Take a little look http://www.aaronvohra.co.uk/
Following the Spanish Grand Prix, I felt like drawing a Formula 1 car, so here it is! Hope you like it. Got an exhibition and an interesting bag printed over the next few weeks so ill keep you updated.
Its a bird! No its a Yellow Bird! Concept for some promo for YBP, rejected but fun to make. I think theres something in this, for patterns and packaging. Im going to make some more. Regardless of my tutor hating it and deeming it economy budget bullshit. Its a lovely yellow bird being rained on by pink among blue clouds. Who wouldnt love that?
Back to work! Ill be sorting out a few things over the next week or two so I can get this work out and about and see if I can snag a job. We’ll see! Start getting a portfolio together and applying for a bunch of junior designer jobs, my face will be like this until then. In awe of the task ahead and kind of dizzy with a guitar for a nose.
Heres the Penguin Classic Cover! The story of Steppenwolf is amazing and I had loads of fun researching into the story and the characters. The main character is struck with the feelings of an internal struggle between himself as part of society as a middle aged man and the animalistic nature which is also a part of him, which he believes is a wolf - a wolf of the steppes. Its awesome. Honestly, if it sounds interesting check this link out, its from the film Steppenwolf - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwDGVP1tMTg
Anyway, with the cover I didnt want to attempt to tell a story, I just wanted to add to the title really, and set the scene for the story. Hopefully it works!
Hi there! Havnt posted anything in a week or two now. All the Kubrick work is done and dusted, so onto new and exciting things! I think Im in some kind of post-huge project limbo at the moment, had a week off which didnt help, but its nice and refreshing. Ive been working on this artwork over the last few days, its a poster for the Japanese Red Cross, the idea is that it’ll be sold as a poster to raise funds for the relief effort. Not sure if they will want it, but might as well give it a go! Dont get many causes that are more worth the effort than this one. Im doing a cover for a penguin classic this week too, so watch this space!
The Shining - the paradox that Kubrick created between what the audience considers to be supernatural and what is presented as psychological to his characters - what is real? I tried to capture that in some way. This may be the last one of these Kubrick pieces I have time to do now, its been a blast! If I get time Ill make some more.
Things were getting a little samey which is never good, so I had a little fun with this one. I like the way it turned out! The direction for this one came from 2001: A Space Odyssey - mans ultimate self destruction and the issues that surround life and death.
Im going to try to get 3-4 more of these done over the next week. Creating each one to communicate an issue raised by one of Kubrick’s greats - in my own way. Im kind of making this up as I go, and Im not sure how obvious to be…its easy to go off-topic. This one is for Full Metal Jacket - it could be seen as… off-topic? I touched on human nature, the duality of man and in turn its consequences. Its one of those that you just cant be sure if its a hit or a miss, I might come back to it before the weeks done!
Theres less elements and more detail in this one, the last two kind of lacked detail in the focal points, which didn’t really do much for them in the end. The reason I didn’t give them facial features or expressions is that they are really descriptive - they tell you whats going on. In this one I don’t think they are actually that bad though, the other elements make you see the two characters in a different light. Kind of need to start thinking about final artwork for this project so after this I think Ill concentrate on content rather than developing the artwork more - its just too fun and I could do it forever. Urrrr…
This is like a map of images, know what I mean? I tried to make it easy to be lead around the image via focal points to tell a story. Havnt quite got it right but its getting there, super simple again - trying to be bold. This one is really similar to the last one but I thought it might be nice to be consistent for once and develop the style. What do you think its about? Any ideas?
